Home ยป 5 Tips to Help You Find the Ideal Auto Repair Facility Serving Pinellas Park

One of the most common concerns that car owners have whenever they need service is trying to find the right auto repair facility. If you live in Pinellas Park, Florida, you deserve to have an auto repair technician and facility that you can trust and rely on for any issues that arise with your car.

With so many auto repair facilities operating throughout the region, it can be difficult to know what to look for. You want to be able to trust your auto repair technician, to know that you are not going to be ripped off and told that you need a lot of extra work that you don’t really need, and you also don’t want to be charged for a replacement part and work that was never done.

These are two unfortunately common issues that people have with certain auto repair facilities. That is why we at Peterson Auto and Truck have put together the following five tips that can help you determine whether our facility and services, or someone else’s, is going to be the ideal auto repair facility for you.

Do not misunderstand the intentions of these tips. While we would prefer that you chose our services, the most important thing is that you are comfortable with not only your choice, but with the auto repair technician who will be working on your vehicle. If you end up choosing a different company, and you are happy with their service, then these tips were well worth putting out there for you.

1. Look for experience.

There are literally hundreds of young, ambitious auto repair technicians who are constantly looking for work. Every few months more young men and even women are graduating from technical institutes with a focus on auto repair.
Choosing any of these technicians, or a facility that hires new workers, doesn’t mean that you are going to get a poor level of service. However, when it comes to your vehicle and staying safe on the road, nothing beats experience.
The more experience that an auto technician has, the more accurately he will be able to diagnose and repair any situation.
Cars today are much more advanced and have more computer components that require a greater level of experience to diagnose and repair. Make sure that the facility you choose has technicians with a high level of experience.

2. Check out the integrity of the auto repair facility.

You can go online and look at a variety of reviews from many directories and other sites such as Yelp. Reading what other customers have to say can do a lot to help you determine whether the facility is worth looking at.
You can also ask around of friends, family members, and coworkers to see what service stations or technicians they rely on for their vehicles, as well as their impressions of any other facilities in the area.
Always make sure that you do your homework with regard to an auto repair facility that serves Pinellas Park.

3. Certification.

It is required by law in the state of Florida that all auto repair technicians be certified. That doesn’t mean that every technician is going to actually have his or her certification or that they will have kept it current.
Check on the company’s certification and registration to make sure that they have all current paperwork. If your car is covered under a warranty, it will only be covered if you choose a qualified and certified repair facility. You may not know that your warranty will not cover the repairs until you get a letter from the warranty company stating the reasons why they will not cover those repairs.

4. Customer support.

Too often people do not associate quality customer service and support with auto repair facilities. This should never be the case. You should feel comfortable and welcomed whenever you have to bring your car in or pick it up from an auto repair facility.

You should feel that the facility and the technician are going to be more than willing to listen to your questions and concerns about your car, and that they will take the time to explain different options to you.

If you do not feel comfortable with a technician or repair facility, you should find one that makes you feel welcomed and comfortable. You may even need to wait for your vehicle to be repaired, so the facility should have some comfortable accommodations to help with that.

5. Avoid “technicians” operating from their home (or who come to yours).

If you have a friend of a friend of a coworker’s friend who has a son who is an “auto repair technician,” and you think that it is a good idea to have him work on your vehicle, think again.

There are far too many people who operate out of the back of their car or will come to your home to change the oil, change the spark plugs, replace the brake pads, and do a host of other jobs and work on your vehicle, but you should avoid these at all costs.

We are not negating that there are some incredibly talented technicians out there who are working independently, but state law requires that most jobs done on your vehicle have to be conducted in a controlled environment, such as an auto repair facility garage. It could have to do with training, or replacing or storing fluids such as engine oil, transmission fluid, coolant, and even gasoline.

If you care about the integrity and safety of your car or truck, make sure that you always bring it to a certified and qualified auto repair facility. If you have other questions, feel free to contact Peterson Auto and Truck, serving Pinellas Park and the surrounding areas.
